In Memory Of...

This week we went to the Erie Zoo with our grandchildren. As we walked through the exhibits we remembered that there were two less animals there now. Simba the lion and Mizar the polar bear both passed away this year.
Last spring Lorraine and I were able to photograph both of them with the Erie Photography Club. We had a special day when we went into the Zoo before opening time and photographed the animals.
This brings up a good point. When you have a photograph made, it's a memory. We don't like to think about this, but could it be the last memory of someone you love? Good reason to make sure you never put it off. Tomorrow could be too late.

Shelby at Three Months

It was a hectic day, and she wasn't feeling at her best. But Shelby came through with some beautiful poses! A great deal of thanks goes to big brother Lucas, who helped her to smile. Looking good....

Hannah

It was an overcast morning, Hannah was a little shy, and it all came together perfectly! We held the session in her back yard by a playhouse her parents had built. So why did it take me over a week just to get an image up on this blog? Because there are too many good images from which to choose. I literally have gone through them dozens of times, sorting, re-sorting, then doing it again to get the number down to a reasonable level for her parents to choose. Sorry Jane, but you're going to have to choose between quite a few beautiful pictures of Hannah!

A Day At The Beach

We had the opportunity to hold this session at Presque Isle State Park, on the beach. It was a fun morning and everyone had a great time. The weather cooperated also, which is a real plus! We really enjoy adapting to new locations for photo sessions. It gives everyone a chance to explore new possibilities for a great image.

Logan

Another great child model!
Logan was easy to work with, and fun too. I pity his mother, because now she has to choose "The Best" from all the images. That's not going to be easy with this little guy... I still haven't decided on my favorite, and I have had plenty of time to see them.

Shelby

A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to photograph Shelby. Newborns can be challenging, but a lot of fun.
Did the images "work"? Well, my 5 year old granddaughter gave her seal of approval as soon as she saw me working on them.
What do you think?

An Afternoon With Benjamin

What a great afternoon we had with Benjamin! It was his six month session and once he started laughing I didn't think he would ever stop.
Benjamin is the second in his family in our "In A Year's Time" program.
His big brother Jack had as much fun as he did. Actually, we all did.

George

George had a great session last Thursday.
Alert and inquisitive at three months. Happy too...
Can't wait 'til his next session! It's going to be a good year with little ones like this to photograph.

The Beginning

Welcome to the beginning of the R. E. Williams Photography Blog.
Lorraine and I are the owners and "operators" of R. E. Williams Photography. We began photography several years ago as a hobby, and it somehow grew into a business venture. Along the way we have had a lot of fun, met many helpful people and learned a great deal.
We learned not just to "shoot a picture", but found instead that capturing memories is really what it's all about. And we decided to specialize in fine Childrens' and Family Portraiture.
Our studio is wherever the session takes us.
We will add more later, and show some of our work here.
